What is Malware?

 

Malware is a software, which is designed to damage the computer or Degrading the computer. Malware can also sends personal data of the user over the Internet. Malware may have Computer Virus, Trojans, Spyware.

 

Signs of Malware or Common Symptoms of Malware

 

1. Suddenly your Home page changed in to unknown Website address.

2. Unknown Browser toolbar got installed.

3. When you open Windows programs like Regedit, MSconfig, Taskbar, gpedit.msc, get Access denied Message.

4. Very slow internet speed.

5. You receive unwanted Popups when your not browsing.

6. Your computer become very slow, take lot of time while booting and Shutdown.

7. You may not be able to install new software, when you try to install new software or Hardware drivers, computer will restart automatically.

8. Computer will restart as soon as you open command prompt, Regedit or Gpedit.msc.

9. Not able to disable System Restore.

10. Strange Icons appeared on the system tray.

11. Antivirus Auto protect turned off automatically.

12. Not able to open antivirus or Antispyware to scan the computer.

 

How to remove Malware?

 

1. Delete Temporary Internet files, Cookies and System Temp files.

2. Boot the computer in Safe Mode, Go to Control Panel , Add Remove Programs, uninstall unknown software's.

3. Run Full system scan for Virus, remove detected Virus, and Trojans.

4. Install Antispyware like Spybot - Search & destroy, Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool. Run full System scan, remove infected items.

5. Restart the Computer in normal mode, Run full system Virus scan and Antispyware scan to make sure that nothing is left out.

 

How to prevent  Malware?

1. Install good Antivirus and Antispyware software, which should have very good Auto protect capability.

2. Do not install unknown Web Toolbars, unknown software.

3. Always download files from trustworthy site.

4. Enable Windows firewall or install personal firewall.

5. Most of the Malware comes from file sharing websites like p2p torrent sites. Try to avoid these websites.
