>>Your
system is low on virtual memory
Problem:
Hi I
have Dell Latitude D 600 laptop 1.6 GHz Intel M Processor, 512 MB Ram, 40 GB
Hard disk, Running Windows XP pro. I am keep on getting "Your system is low
on virtual memory" error message and it will hang the system. Nothing will
respond. Finally I have to reboot the PC by pressing Power off switch
button. Normally I will open some IE browser and some MS Word documents
files. Can you please guide me how to resolve this issue.
Solution:
Normally low Virtual memory error will come when you have very little RAM,
In your case you have 512 MB memory, Its sufficient for your work. There are
some applications causing this problem which has memory leak. We need to
find these faulty application and fix the issue.
Here
is the steps to find application which causing memory leak.
1.
Right click on Task bar and click on Task manager
to open Task Manager Window.
2.
Click on Processes tab.
3.
Click on View menu, click on Select Columns and
click on Virtual Memory Size check box to select. Click OK to
close Select Columns Window.
4.
Now you have VM Size column in your Processes tab. Click on VM
Size to arrange the VM Size values from largest to smallest.
5.
Now you can find out which process using more virtual memory. You have to
find out application which belongs this process.
Once
you find out the buggy or corrupted application. Try uninstalling and
reinstall the application to resolve the issue. Find out any patches for
this application on vendor support site, on searching the internet.
